FXCM Sentiment Fund
This topic is dedicated to FXCM's Sentiment Fund.
In particular I am invested in their Sentiment Aggressive Fund. What can I say, I'm aggressive like a tiger! Rawr! Keep those fresh pips coming my way.
I'm interested in hearing your experience with this Managed Account.
Ciao.

Re: FXCM Sentiment Fund
we just have broken the max. recorded drawdown so far by 1,4%. -12,06% and no end in sight.
i think i will be out on -20.
how can a fund produce about 90% losertrades over a period of 8 days? :what:
I guess, it's my real bad luck. down 4,220 $ so far at fxcm. -3000€ galleon.

Hmm..I think it's the market that is kicking it but. The market is very very volatile lately. All eyes are on possible signals that the FED may lower the interest rate yet again for fear that the US economy is sliding into a recession. No doubt the strategy employed by the Sentiment Fund probably does not deal well with market volatility. After all it is called "sentiment". From what I know it somehow uses a proprietary "market sentiment" indicator to "gauge" where the market's sentiment or direction lies - in other words it is a trend following system. In times of high volatility trend following systems get whiplashed to hell. I think that FXCM should stop trading this fund and wait for the markets to settle down a bit, or use some other strategy, perhaps some sort of scalping technique.
Update: My equity is sitting at 840..pathetic..blah..anyways...
I think in reality we're both victims of bad timing. Last year the Sentiment Fund earned 60% profit, so if we started at the beginning we certainly wouldn't mind a 20% drawdown

Re: FXCM Sentiment Fund
very very extreme. no my positions turned into 980$+
this isnt good for my nerves...but i am afraid, that fxcm will let them turn into losers again. thats the sentiment strategy. up down up down, close on second reverse.
edit: +1900$ and im back to -2%.

Re: FXCM Sentiment Fund
oh yes. there is so much potential in this pair. it is the only one i am self trading since end of december. you could have gotten miilionaire wihtout a problem
i suppose it will come again to around 207 this day. if it comes around 211,80, there should even be a bigger fall.
i am short on gbpjpy since 211,30. are you in, too, alan?

Yep, I caught that nice short at 211.90 all the way down to 209.65. Then I caught a long at around 208.55 or somewhere around there and made a nice 180 pips off that move. I love how when this pair moves it moves BIG. I'm still learning this pair and so far I'm working with support resistance and the sidus method. I'm still in search of a better technique to use with this pair, so hopefully someday I will find it cause this pair alone can double your account easily and in a fairly short timespan. The downside of this pair is that due to its wild swings it can easily must through you SL like a hot knife through buttter, so I would recommend to all that they set fairly generous SL - +50 is nothing..maybe even +80 or so pip SL.
Btw, how's your Sentiment account doing? I'm almost back to where I started when I funded the account.

Re: FXCM Sentiment Fund
including floating positions i am down 2,1 % so far.
it really sucks a little bit. yesterday there were open positions for around 2500$, which would have put me 2% into +, but fxcm let them run to -600 back to 1700 and closed at 200.
in case they would know when to lock profits, you could gain really nice profits with this fund so far. but i have watched this phenomena a few times so far...
fxcm says about this. they don'T know when the fund closes positions, they even don't really know how the tecnique behind it works. they just know that it works and the developer of the system does keep it to himself. very serious, indeed.
in my own trading account i'll go into to longterm trades now. eurusd long without s/l but limit at around 1,50. timeframe around 30 days.
usdchf short at .1030. period about one week or tp at something around 100 pipsis.
and of course, i will ride the gbpjpy train again like the last weeks. for today i suppose a fallback when it comes to around 210.92 - 211.00.
bottom aim 208.80 - otherwise 207.

same here 130 pips short, now I'm waiting to go long. I lost nearly 90 pips though because I was silly and entered while the pair was in a channel.
Did you see that monstrous drop when a financial indicator that was bad for the GBP came out? Wow..booom..straight to the bottom. I love the volatility - when I'm on the winning side lol
